Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
